Monosaccharides are
Fructose
Glucose
Galactose
Disaccharides are
Sucrose = Glucose + Fructose
Maltose = Glucose + Glucose
Lactose = Glucose + Galactose
Polysaccharides are
Cellulose
Starch ----> Maltose -----> Glucose
Glycogen
Enzymes are biological catalysts that speed up a reaction but do not take part in it and remain chemically unchanged at the end of the reaction.
The denature if the temperature is too high
Also denature if the pH value is too high or low
Different enzymes have different optimum temperatures and pH values
Enzymes are VERY SPECIFIC.. *(Lock-and-key hypothesis)
The process is
Substrate fuses with the enzyme at the active site
Forms an Enzyme-substrate complex
Released from enzyme is the product of the reaction
e.g. Starch is broken down into maltose by enzymes.
PROTEINS! Enzymes are made from proteins.
Deficiency in proteins can cause kwashiokor (cant rmber what is the symptoms)
Fats are from fats and oils.
Fats and oils are the practically the same thing. Its just that oils are liquid at room temp. while fats are solid.
Ok from here onwards i open textbook bah.. sorries
Water is best solvent for organic and inorganic substances.
Medium in which chemical reactions accur
Cushioning of delicate organs such as the brain.
OK .. im more or DEFINITELY LESS prepared for bio test tmrw // .. i regret for only rmbring about the test at 9 .. not enough time to revise ..
Tired and exhausted
